What is VoteMySite.com?

Do I need an account to browse the site?

No. Public rankings, categories, search results, site information, voting, ratings, reviews, and Visit Now links can be used without owning a listing. An account is required to add and manage sites.

How does live search work?

Begin typing in the Search field in the blue menu bar. Matching listings appear automatically below the field. The suggestions update as the search phrase changes.

How do I open the complete search-results page?

Type the search phrase and press the green Search button or press Enter. VoteMySite.com then opens the normal full search-results page with all matching results and pagination when needed.

What information does search examine?

Search compares the entered words with active listing titles and descriptions. Very short words may be ignored so the results remain useful.

How do categories work?

Each site is assigned to the single category that best represents its main subject. Selecting a category shows active listings from that category and ranks them using the current category ranking method.

What is the Info button or listing title for?

The Info button and linked listing title open that site's details page. The page can show the site's VoteMySite Score, statistics, rating information, reviews, description, and outbound Visit Now control.

How do I add my first site?

Select Add Your Site, complete the requested site and account information, and submit the form. Use the site's real URL, an accurate title and description, the closest category, and a valid email address.

Can one account manage multiple sites?

Yes. After signing in, Add Your Site adds another listing under the same owner account. Each site still has its own identifier, voting code, banner, statistics, title, description, category, and public details page.

What information appears in a public listing?

A listing can display the title, description, category, rank, VoteMySite Score or method-specific score, voting activity, Rate and Review control, Info control, and Visit Now control.

Why must the title, description, and category be accurate?

Visitors use those fields to understand and compare sites. Accurate information improves trust, search relevance, category placement, and the usefulness of the directory.

Can I change a site's URL, title, description, or category?

Yes. Sign in, choose Edit Sites, select the correct domain, make the changes, and save them. The account-level email, password, and security settings are changed separately under Edit Account.

How do I remove or manage a site?

Use Manage Sites in the logged-in submenu. Select the exact listing before confirming any management or removal action because each domain is handled separately.

Why does a VoteMySite URL contain a search-engine-friendly title?

Public listing and rating URLs use a readable slug based on the site's domain and listing title. The slug makes the address easier to understand while VoteMySite internally resolves it to the correct listing.

What is the Control Panel?

The Control Panel is the owner area for managing account settings and all sites attached to the account. Its submenu provides Get Vote Codes, Upload Banners, Edit Sites, Edit Account, View Statistics, and Manage Sites.

What does Get Vote Codes do?

It lets you choose a domain and generate the voting link, button, slider, popup, or window code for that exact site. The selected site's identifier is embedded in every generated code.

What does Upload Banners do?

It lets you choose a site and upload the banner used to represent that listing in VoteMySite areas that display banners. The upload page shows the permitted format, dimensions, and file-size limits.

What is the difference between Edit Sites and Edit Account?

Edit Sites changes listing-specific information such as URL, title, description, and category. Edit Account changes owner-level information such as email, password, notification preference, and two-factor authentication.

What does View Statistics do?

It lets the owner choose one site and review that site's VoteMySite activity. This is separate from the public Statistics page, which shows platform-wide totals and averages.

Why must I select a domain before many Control Panel actions?

Codes, banners, statistics, and listing edits belong to one specific site. Selecting the domain prevents changes or activity from being assigned to another site in the same account.

Which voting-code formats are available?

Available options include a Simple Link, Static Button, Right-to-Left Slider, Left-to-Right Slider, Bottom Slider, Top Slider, Center Popup, On-Load Window, and On-Exit Window. The exact options shown on the Voting Codes page are the active options for the site.

Where should I install a voting code?

Place it in a site-wide template, header, footer, theme area, custom HTML block, tag manager, or immediately before the closing body tag. A site-wide location provides more complete pageview coverage than one isolated page.

Can I use one site's code on another site?

No. Every code contains the selected listing's unique identifier. Using Site A's code on Site B credits activity to Site A.

Do voting codes also record pageviews?

The generated VoteMySite code options are designed to report pageview activity for the selected listing when they load. The exact code must remain intact and must not be blocked by the site, browser, cache, security policy, or script optimizer.

Can I track my site statistics without displaying a voting button?

Yes. Use Invisible - Statistics Tracker Only on the Get Vote Codes page. It is completely invisible and records total and unique pageview activity for the selected listing without displaying a voting control or recording votes.

What happens when a visitor closes a slider or popup?

Interactive voting prompts can store a session-level dismissal so the same prompt does not immediately reappear after the visitor closes it. A new browser session or private window can be used when testing again.

What is the difference between Unique Votes and Total Votes?

Unique Votes attempt to count distinct qualifying voters according to VoteMySite's uniqueness rules. Total Votes count every accepted vote, including repeated accepted votes that do not increase the unique count.

Can I repeatedly vote to increase a site's rank?

VoteMySite distinguishes unique and total activity and may restrict duplicate voting. Rankings are intended to reflect legitimate visitor participation rather than automated or deceptive activity.

How is the main VoteMySite ranking calculated?

What exactly is the VoteMySite Score?

The system adds Total Votes, Total Pageviews, and Total Hits Out for each of the most recent 10 daily periods, then divides the combined amount by 30. That produces the average of the three total metrics across 10 days.

How are ties resolved on the main ranking?

After VoteMySite Score, the system compares 10-day average Total Votes, then Total Pageviews, then Total Hits Out. Join date and the site's internal identifier provide the final stable ordering.

How does Ranking by Page Views Score work?

It orders sites by 10-day average Total Pageviews. The 10-day average Unique Pageviews is the first tie-breaker.

How does Ranking by Votes Score work?

It orders sites by 10-day average Total Votes. The 10-day average Unique Votes is the first tie-breaker.

How does Ranking by Hits Out Score work?

It orders sites by 10-day average Total Hits Out. The 10-day average Unique Hits Out is the first tie-breaker.

How are category pages ranked?

Category pages include only active listings in the selected category. They use the selected or configured ranking method and the same 10-day average Total metric with Unique activity as the first tie-breaker.

Do star ratings or written reviews change a site's rank?

No. Ratings and reviews are separate visitor feedback. They do not currently change the VoteMySite Score or the Pageviews, Votes, or Hits Out ranking scores.

Why does a site's position change?

The ranking uses rolling 10-day daily averages. New activity enters the calculation and older daily activity moves out, so positions can change as each site's recent performance changes.

Does a high VoteMySite rank guarantee a high search-engine rank?

No. VoteMySite rankings are internal to VoteMySite.com. Google, Bing, and other search engines use independent ranking systems.

How do I rate or review a site?

Select Rate and Review beside the listing or on the site's information page. Choose a rating, optionally write a review, and submit the form.

Can I submit a rating without writing a review?

Yes. The rating is required by the rating form, while the written review can be left empty unless the page states otherwise.

Why might VoteMySite reject another rating?

The system can prevent duplicate rating activity. A visitor who already rated the same site may receive a message that the site has already been rated.

What happens when I click Visit Now?

The listed site opens in a new browser tab or window so the VoteMySite.com page remains available. The outbound action is recorded as Hits Out activity for the listing.

Do all direct links to listed sites open separately?

Yes. Direct outbound listing links are configured to open the destination separately rather than replacing the current VoteMySite.com page.

What is the public Statistics page?

The Statistics link in the top menu and footer opens VoteMySite.com Statistics, which presents platform-wide totals and averages.

Where do I see statistics for one of my sites?

Sign in, choose View Statistics, and select the domain. Each listing has separate daily, weekly, monthly, and overall activity.

What is the difference between Pageviews, Votes, and Hits Out?

Pageviews are VoteMySite code loads for the listing. Votes are accepted voting actions supporting the listing. Hits Out occur when a VoteMySite visitor follows a tracked outbound link to the listed site.

Why are total statistics higher than unique statistics?

Total statistics include repeated accepted activity. Unique statistics attempt to count distinct activity according to VoteMySite's uniqueness rules, including IP-based checks where applicable.

Why do VoteMySite statistics differ from another analytics service?

Different services count different events and use different filtering and visitor-identification rules. VoteMySite measures activity through its own codes, voting endpoints, and outbound links rather than replacing a full analytics platform.

What is the difference between a site banner and a voting button?

A site banner visually represents the listing inside VoteMySite. A voting button or interactive voting code appears on the listed site and connects visitors to that listing's voting and pageview activity.

How do I upload a banner?

Sign in, choose Upload Banners, select the correct domain, choose the image file, and submit it. Follow the file type, width, height, and size limits displayed on the upload page.

Why was my banner rejected?

The file may exceed the allowed size or dimensions, use an unsupported format, contain invalid image data, or have been uploaded while the wrong domain was selected.

How do I sign in to the Control Panel?

Select Login and enter the account username and password. After login, the Control Panel submenu appears below the main blue menu.

What should I do if I forgot my username or password?

Open the recovery page and enter either the username or the account email address. VoteMySite.com can email the username and a secure password-reset link.

Where do I change my password or email address?

Use Edit Account in the Control Panel. Leave the password field blank when you want to keep the current password.

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication adds a second verification step after the username and password. It can be managed under Edit Account.

Should I log out on a shared computer?

Yes. Use Logout when finished because closing a tab does not always end the authenticated session immediately.

Why are no statistics appearing after I installed the code?

• Confirm the code is present on the published site.
• Confirm it belongs to the correct domain.
• Clear the site, plugin, CDN, and browser caches.
• Check whether a content-security policy, optimizer, consent tool, or browser extension blocked it.
• Test the page in a private browser window.

Why does the slider or popup not appear?

Use the Preview control first, verify that the code was copied completely, check for blocked JavaScript, and test in a new browser session because a previous dismissal can hide the prompt for the current session.

Why is activity going to the wrong site?

The installed code probably contains another listing's identifier. Return to Get Vote Codes, select the correct domain, copy the newly generated code, and replace the incorrect code.

Why does Search show no results?

Check spelling, try fewer or broader words, and remember that search matches active listing titles and descriptions. Words containing only one or two characters may be ignored.

Why do I still see an old page or old menu label?

Clear the browser cache and any server, application, theme, optimization, or CDN cache. Then reload the page in a private browser window to verify the current server version.
